ENG2P online is designed to extend the range of oral communication, reading, writing, and media literacy skills that students need for success in secondary school and daily life. Students will study and create a variety of informational, literary, and graphic texts. An important focus will be on the consolidation of strategies and processes that help students interpret texts and communicate clearly and effectively. ENG2P online is intended to prepare students for the compulsory Grade 11 college or workplace preparation course.
UNIT ONE
Music and Poetry- In this unit, students will gain an understanding of communication, reading, writing and media literacy skills as they relate to the study of Music and Poetry. Students will be provided with tools and strategies to complete critical thinking and analysis tasks and develop their understanding of the topic at hand.
UNIT TWO
Opinion Pieces and Documentaries- In this unit, students will gain an understanding of communication, reading, writing and media literacy skills as they relate to the study of Opinion Pieces and Documentaries. Students will be provided with tools and strategies to complete critical thinking and analysis tasks and develop their understanding of the topic at hand.
UNIT THREE
Social Justice and Advertising Campaigns- In this unit, students will gain an understanding of communication, reading, writing and media literacy skills as they relate to the study of Social Justice and Advertising Campaigns. Students will be provided with tools and strategies to complete critical thinking and analysis tasks and develop their understanding of the topic at hand.
UNIT FOUR
Novel Study: Flowers For Algernon- In this unit, students will gain an understanding of communication, reading, writing and media literacy skills as they relate to a Novel Study. Students will be provided with tools and strategies to complete critical thinking and analysis tasks and develop their understanding of the topics at hand.
FINAL EXAM
Proctored Exam- This exam is the final evaluation of ENG2P online. Students need to arrange their final exam 10 days in advance. All coursework should be completed and submitted before writing the final exam, please be advised that once the exam is written, any outstanding coursework will be given a grade of zero. The exam will be two hours.
