Helping You Achieve Success

About Our Campus

Blyth Academy Etobicoke is our newest Ontario campus offering experiential private education for students in Grades 9 – 12 in Toronto’s west end. This brand-new campus facility provides students with the opportunity to learn within a bright, modern, and spacious environment specifically designed to allow for personalized learning in small classes. Classrooms encourage discussions in which every student is heard.

Located in one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods, there are plenty of opportunities for learning that extend beyond the walls of our classrooms. With experiential learning at the forefront of our approach to education, Blyth Academy Etobicoke students will access many local amenities including High Park, the Old Mill trails, and the Humber River. We really benefit from our location — within minutes, we can be in a green space partaking in outdoor education experiences or at a world-renowned gallery or museum.

What Makes Our Campus Unique?

We are a relationship-based community of teachers and learners; we are supportive of one-another and welcoming to all. Our students in grades 9 through 12 work together to continuously improve the Blyth Etobicoke experience for all. Our students are connected to the school not only through academics but also through extra-curricular activities and school events, and they drive what happens here. The communities around our school – Swansea, Bloor West Village, Etobicoke, Toronto – play an integral part in shaping our school community. Whether we’re having a photography class on the banks of the Humber River, a phys ed class at High Park, or visiting a local business for our Entrepreneurship class, we are connected to our community and our city through experiential learning.

Message From Our Principal

Our school is located on Bloor West at South Kingsway and is a new, light-filled space where our students are engaged in both academics and extra-curricular pursuits. In our school, everyone is known and is valued.

Our faculty team works with students to engage them in a collaborative learning process that leads them toward achievement through supporting and nurturing their passions. Ultimately, everyone here strives to be happy, healthy, and successful in their pursuits.

With an average class size of eight, we offer learning opportunities where discussion and exploration are at the forefront. Students learn and grow academically and personally when engaged in our dynamic programming with a focus on experiential learning. We encourage our students to be critical and creative thinkers, as well as active participants in their own education and school community. We prepare each of our students to become a global citizen who can shape the world.

What our Families are Saying…

“At Blyth ET, we pride ourselves on the communal feeling we promote through our small class sizes and school events. In our experience, this atmosphere can really help you get to know people so that you can form friendships that will last a lifetime. We have an amazing student body here, but it’s the staff who really stand out. Our teachers are here to support you throughout your Blyth journey. They truly care and want every one of their students to succeed and thrive throughout their secondary and post-secondary education. At Blyth, teachers include a lot of hands-on learning activities and field trips in order to help you to actually understand the concepts we learn in class. Because we’re smaller than the average high school, the staff also has the opportunity to get to really know you; they’re always willing and excited to work with you and are invested in helping you succeed, just so long as you’re willing to put the effort in. Neither of us have ever been to a school with more caring and passionate teachers than Blyth Etobicoke. And of course, it’s a lot easier to get excited about school when your teacher is excited too.”

“This is my second year at Blyth Academy Etobicoke. I will be attending university starting in the fall where I plan on studying either Health Sciences or Neuroscience. Before coming to Blyth, I had attended several public schools, but didn’t really feel like I was achieving at my full potential. The small class sizes and hands-on instruction have really helped me to reach my learning goals. Something else I really enjoy about Blyth is that there are lots of extra-curricular activities and clubs to be a part of. Last year I was a part of the Forum on Global Affairs and this year, I am on Student Council and I participated in the Blyth-wide Model UN. I would one hundred percent recommend Blyth to any students considering coming.”

“Our daughter’s experience at Blyth has been empowering and welcoming. She is thriving academically and her confidence has soared because of Blyth’s experiential approach to learning. The teachers and staff are incredibly engaged, caring and relatable. They are genuinely good people who work tirelessly to provide a hands-on and impactful learning experience that we never thought was possible. It is not an exaggeration when we say our daughter has had a truly transformational experience at Blyth. We only wish we enrolled her sooner.”

Ready to experience the Blyth Academy difference?

Though our physical doors remain temporarily closed, the minds of our students stay open. Summer classes are continuing to meet on their regular daily schedules, in virtual classrooms with face-to-face instruction and peer interaction.  The Blyth Academy model of small class sizes, flexible scheduling and individualized approach have enabled us to remain faithful to our standards. Our commitment to ongoing and meaningful communication between school, teachers, students and families has been critical to this effort.

Although our students have transitioned into summer mode and COVID-19 restrictions have begun to loosen, we are looking ahead to what September will hold for our campuses and families.
We want to be clear - our preference and our priority is to get students back to our campuses, but we must ensure this is done in a safe and effective way. While we await official guidance from Public Health and the Ministry of Education, a "return to school" task force has been hard at work putting concrete operational plans in place for all likely scenarios. This includes a full return to campus with safeguards, a blended model of virtual and in-campus learning and the continuation of fully virtual classrooms. All scenarios will provide robust learning and live, daily instruction and interaction with teachers and peers.
With ten campuses across Ontario, we realize that each one of our schools is a unique space and community. We will be implementing across-the-board policies on hand washing, facility cleaning and social distancing measures. Each school is also prepared to pivot individually based on the guidance of local health authorities and to best serve students and families.
Our recent survey showed that over 80 per cent of Blyth Academy families are eager to return to campuses, and we are hard at work to prepare for this day. As September's scenario becomes clearer and more information becomes available, we will continue to communicate.
